Using HaryAI: guides & FAQ

Post-purchase answers — how the switch behaves day to day, what surprising-looking states actually mean, and where to look when something seems off. For pre-purchase questions about what HaryAI is and what it costs, see the FAQ on the home page.

Quick answers

Five-minute reads. For longer walkthroughs see the guides below.

How do I confirm my requests are actually going through HaryAI?

Open the popover — the usage section on top shows your gateway subscription quota and how much you've burned this period. That number only moves when requests reach the gateway. You can also click the wrench icon in the footer to copy a diagnostic dump, which prints the effective base URL Codex / Claude Code are pointed at.

I pasted a new API key — do I need to toggle the switch off and on?

No. Codex picks up the new key on its next request automatically (the loopback proxy reads it fresh every time). Claude Code's settings.json is also re-written with the new key automatically while its switch is ON.

Codex still shows my ChatGPT subscription bar in its Settings — am I being double-charged?

No. The bar reads from your ChatGPT account directly, not from HaryAI; it only moves when something hits the ChatGPT API outside HaryAI. While the switch is ON, every Codex request goes through the gateway and is counted against your gateway plan. See the dedicated guide below for the full story on why the bar is still there.

How do I completely uninstall HaryAI Switch?

Before uninstalling, toggle both switches OFF in the popover — that restores ~/.codex/config.toml and ~/.claude/settings.json to their pre-switch state. Then drag HaryAI.app to the Trash (macOS) or remove HaryAI from Programs & Features (Windows). To also delete your stored key and app data, remove the HongqiaoSwitch folder under ~/Library/Application Support (macOS) or %APPDATA% (Windows).
